French Honor Society Star Project Looking to Help More Kids this Winter

The hallways of New Milford High School are quickly being populated by puffy winter jackets as December not only brings the excitement of the Christmas season, but also increasingly frigid weather. Unfortunately, there are many children in the area that cannot afford the proper clothing to get them through the wintry months of the year.

Hoping to alleviate this problem, the French Honor Society is again sponsoring its annual Star Project. The FHS is asking that the charitable students of NMHS donate a pair of snow boots to provide the needy children of the New Milford area with the necessary protection against the snowy weather. Additionally, the French Honor Society is asking that students donate a book in order to also grant these children a nice present for Christmas.

Students interested in contributing to the effort can stop by the Star Cart, at the front of the cafeteria, during all lunch waves. There, a FHS member will give the student a paper star with the name of the child, their age, and shoe size (if applicable) as well as buying guidelines. Any purchased boots or books can be dropped off at the Star Cart, either during the lunch waves or at the front rotunda in the morning. Every contribution helps, so even if a person is unable to purchase boots/books, students are able to give money of any amount to the donation jar on the Star Cart. Using these funds, the FHS will purchase the boots and books themselves.

The French Honor Society will be collecting boots and books until the 9th of December, so interested students should get their star as soon as possible.
