FBLA Hosting 3rd Annual Faculty vs. Police Basketball Game This Friday

On December 2nd at 7:00 pm, the third annual New Milford Police versus New Milford High School Staff Basketball Game will be hosted by FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) in the New Milford High School gym. The event has drawn a big crowd in the past, and is a favorite event among students as they enjoy watching their teachers compete against the town’s police force. Not only can students attend, but anyone from New Milford is welcome to come and watch the excitement.

The Police versus staff game helps the community grow in spirit through friendly competition. The game is not too competitive and looks a bit more like the NBA All-Star game than a real basketball game, as it does not matter who wins or loses. The main purpose is to bring people together from all over New Milford for a night of entertainment, as it has in the past years, as well as raise money for some good causes.

This year, the game will feature a halftime “Basketball Series Shootout” scholarship opportunity for New Milford High School students. Students of any grade can participate. They must complete a layup, free throw, three pointer, and then a half court shot in order to receive the scholarship for $25,000. In addition to this some of the money will go to the locally well known Julia’s Wings Foundation.

The New Milford Police versus New Milford High School Staff Basketball Game is an already exciting community building event, that continues to grow each year. This year, the new scholarship feature should up the ante, and the game will help build up our community with the charitable proceeds it generates. If this sounds like something you want to partake in be sure to come out this Friday, and you’ll also be supporting a variety of worthy causes.
