The New Milford Boys Cross Country team has finished the season 13-0 and looks to be among the favorites for both the SWC and State races.

For followers of cross country, the aforementioned is nothing new. The perennial powerhouse has finished yet another season undefeated under the leadership of head coach Chris Bacich and looks poised to make another deep postseason run. With twelve SWC championships, seven class titles, and two State and New England Championships, it is tough to call the past fourteen years anything but a dynasty.

Such high expectations do not faze senior captain Drew Humphreys. Humphreys remarked, “The team has been amazing since my freshman year, and this is nothing new. Coach Bacich prepares us for the postseason, and we are ready.” Coach Bacich is both revered by his cross country runners, and respected by his fellow coaches.

Having already beaten every team in the conference, the Green Wave feel primed for yet another deep run, but Humphreys insists that the team has not gotten ahead of themselves and are still taking each race one at a time. With a thirteenth conference title looming, the varsity team consisting of seniors Humphreys, Herlandt Lino, James Kane, Moroni Lima, Chris Kipp, junior Charlie Osborne, and sophomore Eli Nahom could not be more excited. Humphreys said the team is “anxious but prepared” and he has no doubt that the team is fit for the task on Wednesday October 19 at Bethel High School.
