There is a lot happening at NMHS this week!

The official list of the NAMES facilitators for this year’s assembly has been posted on the bulletin board on the first floor, center hallway.

This Wednesday, 9/30/15, there will be a Spanish Honor Society meeting for all members in room 1313.

The annual talent show will be kicking off with auditions Wednesday, October 7th and Thursday, October 8th immediately after school until 4pm. All members of your act must be present only 30 seconds to one minute need to be performed of the act. See Ms. Hugya in room 1313 with any questions.

Homecoming! The Homecoming Kickoff Dance will be on Saturday, October 3rd, from 7-10pm. Tickets cost $10 and will be sold during lunches all this week, checks preferred.

Spirit Week Schedule: October 5th-9th

Monday- Retro Day

Tuesday- Tacky Tourist Day

Wednesday- America Day

Thursday- Fictional Character Day

Friday- Green & White / Senior Toga Day **Tops MUST be worn under all togas

Any student participating in the medical internship program must have all of their paperwork sent to Karen Moore ASAP. See Mrs. Benson in room 1105 with any questions!

Senior Reminders:

Seniors need to select their yearbook photo by September 30th.  This can be done online or by seeing Mrs. Gardner in Room 3316.  Please adhere to the following requirements: vertical, color, head and shoulder only (no flowers or hands), no graduation gowns, Moonlight blue background photos only.  If you do not select your own pose or select one that does not meet the above criteria, a photo/new photo will be selected for you.

Also due September 30th are Senior quotes! Last chance to get your quote into the yearbook committee. There is a 60 word maximum. All quotes must be shared through your school account with [email protected]!

Are you creative and want to see your work published? Then submit your writing to the school literary magazine, The Piper. They accept poetry, short stories, plays, personal essays, memoir, flash fiction, comics, and any other creative writing! They also need artwork. Send submissions to [email protected] or bring your work to room 2204.

All students remember to be checking Naviance for colleges you are interested in hearing about! Many representatives visit our career center and give students a unique look at each school. Each week brings new colleges!

If you are interested in being a stage manager for this year’s All-School musical pick up an application from Mr. Donahue in room 3118 or from Mr. Keck in 1518 (the chorus room).  Interviews will be held early in October. See Mr. Donahue or Mr. Keck if you need more information.

NMHS Bowling: Bowling practice sessions will begin Tuesday, September 29th. These sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday that school is open, from 3 – 4:30. Cost is $5 per week. Any student interested in learning to bowl or who wants to improve their game is welcome. Please see Mrs. Reiner in room 3122 for more information.

There are still yearbooks from previous years are on sale in room 3316. Only $20 per book. Yearbooks from as far back as 2013 are on sale. If you haven’t purchased any yet, this is a great opportunity to get them for cheap, don’t miss out!

Freshman classes shirts will are on sale in room 1104. It is your first chance to officially be a part of the NMHS spirit! The cost of the shirt is $10.00. Show your class spirit and get ready for the pep rally!

Also, the class of 2018 t-shirts are on sale in room 2307 for $5. Get yours before Homecoming!

Class of 2018 fundraiser at Peachwave Thursday, Oct. 1st from 3-9. You must bring a flyer with you for Peachwave to donate 20% back to our class. Flyers are in room 2307.

Finally, this week is the first school climate committee meeting of the year. All students and parents welcome. Meetings are held right after school and again at 6:00pm in the LLC. This is an excellent tool for students to voice their opinion on the school and be active in a safe school environment. Also a great way to show school spirit!
