As another year at New Milford High School comes to a close, we say goodbye to another class of Seniors. The class of 2018 has had an exciting Senior year, from Spirit Week to Senior Banquet, but it is time for the “Curtains” to close on an era.

The class of 2018 has had a great success rate in college acceptances and many Seniors will be attending impressive universities in the fall. Our Valedictorian, Taylor Nunez, will be going to Columbia University and our Salutatorian, Luis-Henrique Amaral, will be going to Saint John’s University. Jimmy Lewis will be attending the University of Notre Dame, and Darcy Cook will be attending Duke University. Liz Schlyer will be rowing at University of Michigan, and her brother, Jeff Schlyer, will be rowing at Brown University.

Along with Liz and Jeff, many other NMHS athletes will continue their passion for sports in college. Nate Capriglione will be playing lacrosse at Gettysburg College and Mel Ortiz will be wrestling at George Mason University. Amaral will also be playing soccer at St. John’s, and Sarah Marsan will also be playing soccer at Franklin and Marshall.

Although many students are choosing the standard college life, there are also alternative options such as military school. John Adams will be attending the Virginia Military Institute in the fall, in hopes of becoming an officer of the Marines. Dylan Jimenez will be attending Norwich University in Vermont.

Because this is only a small sample of students from the class of 2018, there are also many other schools that our Seniors are committed to for this upcoming fall. We wish all Seniors the best of luck in their endeavors beyond high school, and hope that they will take with them many wonderful memories from NMHS.
