While Ms. Riccio will be missed by many, our new addition to New Milford High School, Mrs. Rose, is very excited to be taking her spot.

A graduate of the highly respected Vassar College, Mrs. Rose initially considered going into publishing, and even worked in the profession for about a year. However, Rose soon realized that the job was far more secretarial than she had anticipated. Looking for a more creative and less systematic-desk type job, Mrs. Rose went back to school to earn her doctorate.

Mrs. Rose returned to Vassar College, but this time as a professor. She especially enjoyed the experience of having her former teachers as her colleagues, and taught at Vassar for ten years.

Mrs. Rose first decided that she wanted to become a teacher when she was only five years old. “My two year old brother and I would play ‘School’. I was always the teacher and he would run away.” Unlike her brother, Mrs. Rose’s students constantly benefit from her exceptional teaching skills and always enjoy her classes.

Part of the reason why Mrs. Rose is such an excellent educator is because she believes that the most important characteristic in a successful teacher is wanting to know what their students are thinking, and is genuinely curious about her students’ thoughts and opinions. Mrs. Rose looks forward to getting to know all of her students at NMHS, and wishes to find out how her students learn best. Mrs Rose says that so far, everyone, both staff and students, has been incredibly welcoming.

Mrs. Rose teaches Advanced Placement Language and Composition and American Literature. New Milford High School is very excited to welcome Mrs. Rose, and we are already impressed with what a great teacher she has proven herself to be.
